‘Winston’s Island’ is published by Cross Publishing of Chale, Isle of Wight, with copies available from October, pre- Christmas 2015, after a summer ‘soft launch’ at the 32nd Churchill Conference centred on Blenheim. Peter Cross is well known for high specification publications covering a diverse range of subjects. Previous publications include Professor Robin McInnes’ books on Brannon’s ‘Vectis Scenery’, ‘The Book of the Solent’, ’A picturesque Tour of the Isle of Wight’, and ‘British Coastal Art 1770 – 1930. The official launch was at the Isle of Wight Literary festival in mid-October.
Our Deluxe Edition is hardback, a limited edition print of 950 copies and will be available mainly by subscription. It will be in extra-large landscape format with a page size of 235mm by 325mm (larger than A4), on 160 gsm gloss paper. Of more than 100 pages, 90 in full colour, with over 200 illustrations, the cost reflects its extra large size, elaborate decorative binding and hand finishing, extensive use of colour illustrations, the limited print run, and marbled end papers. The copies will be numbered, and subscribers will be included in a list, distributed as an insert when most copies have been sold.
The Duke of Marlborough writes “Thank you so much for so kindly sending me a copy of your lovely book “Winstons Island” which I was delighted to receive”, adding “I would be pleased to take part in a book signing” at Blenheim Palace. Fifty copies are reserved for the Churchill family.
